Week #2 of the exciting life of Little Miss Hazel Mae

As of Tuesday Hazel weighed in at 9lbs7oz when the nurse came to visit.  This is an additional 14oz since last Tuesday (1.19.10).  Needless to say she is a great eater!  On Saturday, we had Hazel's newborn photos taken - we can't wait to get the proofs back.  Check out Kayla's website because her work is amazing if you are ever in need of family photos www.kaylaphoto.com.

Mike and I gave Hazel her first bath. She wasn't all that thrilled but was quickly comforted by sucking on Mike's finger.

Riding in the car is still something that Hazel has yet to desire. However, Mike's thinks a new vehicle with result in a happy Hazel when driving.  I told him I would need hard evidence to support this claim prior to giving up my beloved hatchback:)

THANKS FOR ALL THE LOVE AND SUPPORT..................

We have been blessed to have many friends and family stop by to see our little bundle of joy since she has been born.  Our friends and family definitely rock.  With all the generosity we have yet to cook a meal for ourselves and have been able to catch up on sleep while Nana and Papa stop by to snuggle with Hazel. The support has been incredibly helpful as we adjust to parenthood.  Thanks again for all your love and support.

Little Hazel Mae Morris has Arrived

On the day you were born the Earth turned, the Moon pulled, the Sun flared, and, then, with a push, you slipped out of the dark quiet where suddenly you could hear a circle of people singing with voices familiar and clear.
– Debra Frasier

Our beautiful baby Hazel Mae Morris entered the world Sunday, January 17th 2010 at 2:49pm. All 8lbs 11oz and 21 inches of her were surrounded by lots and lots of love!   She gave us quite a scare when she first poked her head out and she had her umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. The Dr. quickly cut the cord and with another push she was out.   We could see that she was very, very dark in color, and wasn’t crying.  We immediately asked if she was ok as the nurse quickly whisked her under the lamp and began working to get her to cry.  When we heard her first cry we were so very happy! However, little Hazel’s oxygen levels were still not up to standards so after a brief moment of holding her in my arms she was off to the NICU.
Mike immediately went with her and sat by her side while she was under the care of the great women of the NICU.   Hazel was under an oxygen hood, hooked up to a monitor, given an IV, and had many tests conducted – I think this may have been harder on Mike then Hazel.  After 3 hours I was able to join Mike and our little Hazel in the NICU.  Hazel began demonstrating her strong personality and her oxygen levels were rapidly improving and I was even able to breastfeed her.  At 7:00pm it was decided that Hazel would be able to join us in our room for the night and we were so very happy!

What an amazing blessing from above - One of our good friends shared the below quote with us upon Hazel’s birth.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb
-Psalm 139:13

4th Wedding Anniversary

We celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary by heading down to the St. Paul Hotel fo
r hot coco & Rice Park for a nice stroll to recount all the events of our magical day. I feel so very blessed to be married to such a wonderful man. It is crazy but true every day our love seems to grow stronger and that is a cool feeling!

We were also wondering if Little Baby Morris would decide to join us... no luck. Little Baby Morris is still happy as can be in my tummy- 4 days past her due "guess" date.
