Week #40: Sick...our poor little darling

This week was really tough. Our poor little Hazel Mae was really sick. Her white blood cell count was high and they believed she had some type of bacterial infection in the blood (septicemia/bacteremia).

Over 4 days, our poor little darling had multiple doctor visits, a catheter, 2 chest x-rays, 4 pricks for blood work,  and 3 shots of Rocephin.   Thank goodness the rocephin worked, no hospital stay was required, and by the end of the week Hazel was getting back to her spunky self.

It was really scary and I can't image what those family must go through that have their little ones hospitalized for an extended period of time.  These family are now included in my nightly prayers.

To celebrate Hazel health on Saturday we spend time as a family at Minnehaha Falls - enjoying the fall weather and each other.

Over the weekend when Hazel was back to herself we noticed a few new thing...
  • Loves raises her hands in the air - it is like she just discovered her hands can raise over her head.
  • Says "ball"
  • Can walk holding onto one hand - but still prefers holding two
  • Watching the world go by with Cayman

OH - poor Hazel. Hope she is feeling better. I’ve also been blessed to have a health child and I often forget how fortunate I am – it’s always a good reminder to be thankful of the gift of good health.
You and Hazel look so darn cute in that picture – seriously could be a Macy’s ad!

Love you Leah - tell Mike i said Hi and give Hazel Mae tons of kisses from her cousins Amanda and Alex!

Poor baby girl...sounds like she had to go through some serious tests and antibiotics. I can only imagine how worried you and Mike must have been. Happy to hear she is better now. :)

Such cute fall photos! Hazel looked determined to catch a falling leaf.
